Where We Fish

Fishing Guide in Empire

Welcome to Empire, Louisiana, where the Mississippi River meets the Gulf, creating a prime fishing destination right here in Venice.

On the Water

Fishing Empire

Empire offers a unique blend of brackish marsh and open water that's perfect for a variety of species. We often find ourselves targeting Redfish and Speckled Trout in the shallow bays and along the marsh edges, especially during the cooler months when they move in to feed. Flounder and Black Drum are also common catches here, often found near the passes and deeper channels. When the weather allows, venturing out from Empire into the nearshore waters can yield King Mackerel and even some Tuna action, particularly in the spring and fall. A charter out of Empire can be a fantastic way to experience the diverse fishing opportunities this part of Venice has to offer, from calm marsh exploration to chasing pelagics.

Wife and I booked with Captain Brent Roy. This is the first time we’ve booked a charter ever, so we didn’t know exactly what to expect. We had the quite possibly the best time of our lives fishing with him. He was awesome, easy going and extremely knowledgeable. We had a limit…

Fishing Empire FAQ

What are the best seasons for fishing in Empire?
Fall and spring are generally excellent for Redfish and Speckled Trout. Summer can be hot but still productive, and winter offers opportunities for Black Drum and calmer conditions. Offshore fishing for pelagics like King Mackerel is best in the warmer months and fall.
What kind of fishing trips can I book from Empire?
From Empire, we offer guided trips focused on inshore species like Redfish, Speckled Trout, and Flounder, as well as nearshore excursions for King Mackerel and Tuna when conditions permit. We can tailor a charter to your preferred fishing style.
Is Empire a good spot for Largemouth Bass?
While our primary focus in this region is saltwater species, there are some freshwater areas accessible from Empire where Largemouth Bass can be found, though it's not our main target when fishing out of this location.
