Mahi-Mahi Fishing in Venice, Louisiana

The bright green, yellow, and blue fish in our catch photo is a mahi-mahi. Also known as dorado or dolphinfish, this species brings some of the most recognizable color to an offshore catch. Mature males have a prominent, squared forehead, while females have a more rounded head. Mahi-mahi feed near the surface during daylight, taking small fish and other prey. Their vivid colors can fade quickly after a catch, making a photograph on the boat a memorable part of the day.
